AMY AND LINDALL TACKLE EVEREST ALL WHILST MAKING A DIFFERENCE!

In may next year we are embarking a little stroll to Everest base camp to raise money for a charity called Interplast.

Interplast is a cause that means a lot to me (Amy) as my friend Turia Pitt is their ambassador. In case you dont know who she is, she is the girl that back in 2011 suffered horrific burns to over 65% of her body whilst competing in an Ultra Marathon. As many of you know, we are both keen runners ourselves and her story really hit home with us.

After watching many of her speeches and reading her book. I signed up and did a similar trip 2 years ago to Machu Piccu where Turia and the rest of our group raised over 150k for the cause.

Her and I remain close due to our passion for running and when I told her I was thinking about joining her on this, in typical Turia response she said, stop talking, start doing!

Lindall got wind of my plans and paid the deposit before I had! Wife, Mother of 2, full time worker, adventure enthusiast-is there anything she cant do....??!! (she will be furious I have thrown that in)

By following Turias incredible journey since 2011 up until her recently dominating the Ironman World Champs has been incredibly inspiring and has helped us believe we too can achieve anything we set our minds to.

In order to take part in the event you need to raise a minimum of 5k (thats 10k as there is 2 of us). All the money goes directly to the charity and although any money raised in excess of this can be used to fund the trip, Lindall and I will be covering the entire amount for the trip ourselves and donating every cent we raise above 10k (ambitious yes....) to the charity.

With our support, Interplast's teams of volunteer plastic and reconstructive surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and allied health professionals can continue to provide free surgical treatment to patients living with treatable disabilities such as cleft lip and palate, burn scars and severe hand injuries. The funds we raise as part of this incredible adventure will also enable Interplast to train the next generation of surgical leaders in the countries in which they work. Through education, training and mentoring programs we empower local medical personnel to perform life-saving procedures independently.
